Agrenco Group’s conferences about sustainability present at the Global Trade Review

The conference “Agribusiness: A Sustainable Activity”, organized by the Agrenco Group in the end of October, in Vienna, was present at the world’s leading international trade finance magazine, the Global Trade Review (GTR).

The magazine has highlighted the importance of the environmental, social and economic sustainability to the agribusiness, pointing out that from January 2006 on the European Union will no longer tolerate imported agricultural products that do not strictly adhere to the EU’s safety and quality regulations that are already applied to European food products.

“Concern about the food question was almost non-existent up to the mid 1970’s but today the rules about food safety and sustainability are used in all international deals and commercial contracts. It is clear that the agribusiness sector’s sustainability is only possible if there are investments in the infrastructure (especially in logistics), financial support backed with a proper risk management and the right technology that can overcome non-tariff barriers, preserve the environment, take part in the social development and guarantee quality certification of both processes and products”, said Antonio Iafelice, Agrenco Group’s president, to the GTR.

About the feedback received by Agrenco from participants after the event, Iafelice has said to the magazine: “In general terms, the event has been a success for both Finacom and the group on various fronts. The seminar offered Agrenco the opportunity to meet some of our clients and to show the market the strengths of our group as a whole and the good name Finacom has established for itself. Many of the bankers told us that they are ready to discuss opportunities we shall present to them.”
